What type of funding is available for mobility products?
If you qualify, the Assistive Devices Program covers approximately 75% of a basic mobility device up to their specified ceiling amount. If you are a Veteran, Veterans Affairs may also cover some of the cost. Some service clubs may also provide assistance with funding.

How do I qualify for ADP funding
As a permanent resident of Ontario, you would require the use of the mobility equipment on a regular daily basis. The equipment must provide mobility primarily within the place of residence and the condition requiring the use of the mobility device must last longer than six months. A therapist, registered as an authorized with the ADP Program, will assess your physical needs for the mobility equipment. To initiate this process, you can call Closing the Gap Healthcare Group at (519) 370-2165.
It is important to note, that, the Ontario Government provides universal health care to its residents. As the Assistive Devices Program is administered by the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care, it mandates procedures which must be followed by all parties involved with the process of providing a mobility device. It is the policy of the Assistive Devices Program that the therapist must provide the client with a list of vendors in their area. It is important to shop around and it is the CLIENTS choice as to whom they wish to deal. It is also stated by the Assistive Devices Program that while long-term care homes may enter into an agreement with a vendor to provide service to the facility, the choice of vendor to provide personal mobility devices must remain the CLIENTS. The choice is yours.

Depending on your insurance coverage, they may cover the non-ADP portion of the equipment you require. Green Shield, Department of Veterans’ Affairs and Workplace Safety and Insurance Board will accept billings from us. Other insurance companies require an invoice indicating payment has already been made and reimbursement will be directed to the client.
